Project

Lincoln City Council - Cathedral Quarter

Directional finger post with twin interpretive unit

After a tendering process, Lincoln City Council had decided to appoint Caliba to the difficult yet challenging task of the design and consultation process for the comprehensive way finding and interpretation of the magnificent Cathedral Quarter; one of the worlds major heritage sites.
The result was a 200 + page consultation document setting out new designs for a new "sign family" of free standing and wall mounted units and the key reasons why the particular designs were to be adopted. Considerations were made for the historical area and surroundings; street clutter (ref the English Heritage "save our streets campaign") plus visitor interaction and time of stay.
After tendering for the complete production of the signage which included the content development, design and artwork production, manufacture and install elements, Caliba were awarded the order to manufacture and install the network of some 80plus sign units including key arrival points; interpreter units and finger posts. The project is seen to be one of the major undertakings for many years in signing and interpreting a key urban heritage site and launched the superb new "Vidi" sign system.
