The University of Bath
New Wayfinding Signage
Digital print guidance signs above
Braille and Tactile wayfinding
The University of Bath went to tender for proposals for a new wayfinding and guidance scheme for the University's numerous buildings that was compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Caliba were awarded the contract based on their proposals, working samples and experience in this specialist area of signage design and provision.
Caliba put forward the idea of Braille and Tactile guidance for room numbers and key locations only, with complementary guidance using digital prints for the various departments and contents/usage of rooms.
This enabled the size of the DDA signage to fall within the Sign Design Guidelines, whilst retaining the flexibility to easily change the contents/usage of the rooms.
The location of each sign is in reverse colours to the guidance system. This also follows through with the external campus signage, which Caliba also updated.
As well as Braille and Tactile signs on toilet and lift doors the locations were identified with easily visible projecting signs.
